The Batch Burn Incinerator allows waste to be loaded into the primary
chamber manually or with a feeding ram (if so equipped). When the
chamber is full, or when all waste accumulated is deposited in the
chamber, the burn cycle is initiated. Once the burn cycle starts, it is inadvisable to open the chamber to deposit additional waste as exploding cans or bottles can cause injury to the operator and most states prohibit the opening to avoid combustion upset. Accordingly, SIMONDS has a lockout system to prevent the door's opening during the burn cycle. Waste then burns under controlled conditions for a period of 8 to 12 hours. The unit then shifts to a shut down cycle for final burn out and cool down. After cool down, the small amount of ash and non-combustible items are removed, and the unit is then ready for another load. ![]() |
